In addition, this coffee also could be the rarest coffee ever, even in Indonesia itself, the region that from where the coffee firstly comes from….

Luwak eating fresh coffee fruits
There is natural party as a main part of Kopi Luwak production circle, he is actually an animal named Luwak (Civet – Paradoxurus Hermaphroditus). The production process is naturally simple, wild Civet stole and eats the best coffee fruits directly from its tree. Digesting and fermented for a while in their stomachs, then fermented intact seed coffee comes along the feces of Luwak. The coffee seed then collected, washed, sun dried, and finally roasted. Then a premium coffee ready accompany anyone enjoying sunset.

By the time, Kopi Luwak production then organized. Many Kopi Luwak farmer/producer take care of civets on a cage and feed them best coffee bean. Then the next process is similar. Kopi Luwak mainly produced in the islands of Sumatra, Java, Bali, and Sulawesi, but now also produced in The Philippines and Vietnam.

Feces of Luwak which is the raw of Kopi Luwak
According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kopi_Luwak, History of Kopi Luwak is closely connected with the first coffee plantation in Indonesia, in early 18th century when the Dutch established the first modern coffee plantations in Java and Sumatra. These first plantations also become the first touch of Arabica coffee with the land of Indonesia. During the era of Cultuurstelsel (1830-1870), the Dutch prohibited the native farmers and plantation workers from picking coffee fruits for their own use. Then the natives aware that certain species of musang or Luwak (Asian Palm Civet) consumed the most tanned coffee beans, they left the coffee seeds undigested on their faces.  The farmer then collected these Civet faces, which actually is coffee seeds, cleaned, roasted, and ground them to make their own coffee beverage. Sure the plantation owner has no reason to prohibited this activity, because the seeds in faces of Luwak only a rest.  Fame of Kopi Luwak aroma fast spread from locals to Dutch and soon become their favorite.

But according to oral stories Kopi Luwak already recognized long before that time. They say that Kopi Luwak is the favourite drink of the nobles. Ups, but I don't think that this different opinion is something important.

Since the first because of its rarity and unusual process, Kopi Luwak always becomes the most expensive coffee. Now according to Wikipedia Kopi Luwak price is the range between $ 100 up to $600 / pound depending on quality.

I live in Indonesia as the biggest producer of this coffee but trusty I have only two or three times experience in dealing with Kopi Luwak taste, sure I love the taste of coffee but I really hate with the price…….
