 - Soup That President Obama Love -

A cup of  Bakso

Bakso originally is a China culinary, which literally means pork ball in some Chinese dialects. After adapted with local taste, Bakso become one of most popular daily food in Indonesia and easily find anywhere at any location, from luxury restaurant until sidewalks stalls. Bakso is also one of the favorite foods of President Barack Obama.

Not too hard to make this delicious soup, it is a mixture of subtle meat plus spices plus a little tapioca flour. That all are combination inside a Bakso. Simple!

Let's see what the ingredients and then how to process it. I am sure you will easily make it, but remember, Bakso only delicious when served hot.

A. Meat Ball – Material and Processing

Meat  -> Any type of meat can be used as raw material included fish. Meat should be fresh.

Tapioca Flavor or Soybean flavor -> (composition 75% meat & 25% flavor.)

Spices -> garlic, red-garlic, pepper powder and salt.

Eggs ->  this is additional material to make a better taste but not a must, you can use 1 or 2 egg(s) for 1 kg meat.

Equipment:
Grinder and Mixer -> to grind and mix the meat to blend the mixed meat with other material (tapioca, spices + egg(s))

Direction: 


Grind all Bakso material add with 0,25 liter cold water for every 1kg meat mixed them until really soft like a pap.

Boiled about 6 liters of water, wait until boiling, formed the complete mixed meat by hand, and put on boiling water, you can form Bakso like tennis table ball. Wait until all meatball come up at surface of boiling water. After finish, please do not throw the water. This water will be used as soup gravy.

However, you can also storage Bakso at freezer, frozen meatball is better than fresh meatball in taste.

B. Gravy Soup for Bakso.

Use the remaining water that used for making meatballs, but if you make it in another day, you can also use pure water and prepare water for about a cooker pan (about  4-5 liters).

Ingredients: 
Meat roughly chopped (300 grams) Bone roughly chopped (250 grams) Garlic finely ground (150 grams) Shallots finely ground (150 grams) Smooth Pepper (25 grams) Fresh Celery (5 stems) Nutmeg roughly chopped (10 grams) Cardamom  (4 pieces) Salt (to taste)

Directions: 
Meat and bone chopped boiled in boiling water for 30 minutes, garlic, onions, and peppers that have been finely ground in stir-fry with a little oil until fragrant. All ingredients put together into the stew of meat and bone boiling.

c. Additional Materials


Steamed noodle, slashed celery, fresh mustard greens, tomato sauce, sweet soy sauce and chili sauce if you like.

d .Serving


Put steamed noodle, slashed celery, fresh mustard, and soy sauce and tomato sauce in a cup, flush the noodles with hot gravy soup and its meatballs. Ready to be enjoyed.
